Longitudinal Business Database

The Longitudinal Business Database (or LBD) is our core resource for understanding the behaviour and performance of New Zealand firms. It is a collection of administrative and survey data, brought together by Stats NZ in the DataLab.

Using this site

  • If you have never used the LBD before, then your best place to start is probably Introduction to the LBD

  • For more details on the constituent datasets of the LBD, including official documentation and copies of the forms used to collect the data, go to Underlying Datasets

  • Learn what can be done and what has been done using the LBD, including journal articles, working papers and the like by going to Research using the LBD

  • When you are ready to start crunching those numbers, you might find From data to analysis helpful.
